The following Teriyaki burger recipe is completely free-style and you can easily adopt it, to fit your own preferences. Feel invited to post your variations
First, let’s just head straight away to the ingredients. We asume you have ready made teriyaki sauce at hand, if not, just have a look at our guide. In this example we just used some ready made sauce from the supermarket
Ingredients
- 4 burgers (cutlets or escalopes will do it, too and a tasty variation. Burgers based on ground meat are just easier to marinate. Pork, beef and chicken are equally fine)
- Salt and pepper to taste, we used green pepper here
- Paprika – should not be missing. You will not taste it too much, but you would taste it’s absence
- Teriyaki sauce
- Garlic, sliced
- Onions
- Mustard
- Mayonnaise or Aioli
- Some lettuce
- Cheese (Gouda goes best)
- Burger buns or just toast slices
How to make the Teriyaki Burger
Here we go. Season the burgers with salt, pepper and paprika powder. If you use real burgers based on ground meat also put some slices of garlic into each. Marinate with teriyaki sauce and let them chill for 10-30 minutes.
Meanwhile, you can prepare the buns/respectively toast slices. Here, we put some thin onion slices on each, added mustard and some lettuce mix. If available, one or two tomato slices would fit perfectly fine here, too.
After the burgers have been sufficiently marinated (10 minutes at least), fry them on both sides until they look golden-brown. Maybe we have gone a little bit far here, but they were still good
Just place your fried teriyaki burgers on the buns/toast slices and add your preferred sauces.
We used Sriracha Thai sauce (Hot!) and Aioli, but ketchup and mayonnaise should be fine likewise. If you have cutlets or escalopes: now is the right time to add some garlic. Make sure the slices are thin. Maybe you find place for an olive or some hot pepper.
Now, the picture will not win us an award, give the soon to be born teriyaki burgers in the pre=heated oven (We use usually maximum for preheating and turn the heat down to 360 F (180 C) after we introduced the burgers.
Now, let them bake for some 10 minutes. Afterwards, top them with some slices of cheese and add also the remaining toast slices while the cheese melts (1-2 minutes). So they will get cross on both sides.
Before the cheese is entirely melted, top the burgers with the remaining toast slices or burger buns so they will stick nicely.
Hey, after one more minute, your are the proud owner of 4 awesome Teriyaki burgers. But you have still wait some 10 minutes before you can east them without burning yourself.
